Today Worksafe posted a friendly New Years message reminding farmers across the country to discuss and talk about health and safety on the farm while taking action to protect against serious harm hazards. You can find the full Worksafe article here

Worksafe also released all ‘Notifications of Notifiable illness of injury in 2016’ – announcing that they had received 2587 farm related injuries in 2016. Below shows the breakdown by region of all reported incidents.

Although it make for grim viewing, the figures are better than the year prior and indicates that people are taking health and safety on the farm seriously. However numbers remain far higher than the expected norm.

 
WorkSafe’s Brett Murray, General Manager Operations and Specialist Services summarized: “Starting the year by discussing health safety is part of ensuring that we can all go home safe and healthy at the end of the day.”
